More than ever these days our problem is lack of knowledge, lack of dialogue and a refusal to listen. The fundamentalists of this world say: “You are either with us or against us”. The correct response to such a demand is that we are against anyone who refuses to listen and accept our different views and identity. We will never be silenced!

Over a two year period (April 2015 – April 2017) during which most of the articles in this book were written, witnessed momentous global events: Conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Libya; the fight against ISIS; the sharp fall in global oil prices; and the US elections. This book could be said to represent an attempt to put these events in context at a global and local level while considering what they mean for the Arab world and for each of us seeking to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the midst of it all.

Akram Miknas is the founder of Fortune Promoseven which today is the largest advertising and communications network in the Middle East and North Africa, employing over 4,200 inspired professionals.
