Coffee Table Book
Glass by its very nature is a fascinating substance – it can be spun, moulded, blown, engraved, painted – it can be clear or coloured, transparent or opaque – and throughout history it has played a prominent part in enhancing the quality of life for all mankind. Around 1600BC it was already in use in the ancient lands of Mesopotamia, Syria and Egypt and the Arab world has contributed much to the advancement of glass in all its forms over the centuries.
This high quality coffee-table book “Reflections – An Insight into the History of Decorative Glassware in the Kingdom of Bahrain from the Tylos Era to Modern Times” is born out of earlier publications by the same authors entitled “Mosaic – A Journey through the Multi-faceted World of Bahrain’s Arts and Crafts” and “Earthworks – The Artistry and Craftsmanship of Pottery, Ceramics and Gypsum in the Kingdom of Bahrain” and focuses on decorative glassware in the Arab and Islamic world and is the accumulation of many months of research by the authors, input by many experts working in the field and other advisors who have a passion for keeping alive this aspect of Arabic and Islamic culture and heritage, particularly where it relates to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
